They can still play trivia and musical bingo on paper. Print up to ten trivia answer sheets or musical bingo cards a night from the host console, before the night starts. Trivia teams on paper hand their sheet to the host at the end of each round, before the answers go up on the screen, and the host adds their score to the leaderboard. A paper musical bingo card is checked by typing its number into the console. Paper players count towards your players and your bill the same as phones do. Moving a trivia crowd over from paper? In your free month you can print a trivia sheet for every player on your plan, so your regulars can switch across at their own pace. VenuePlay does not print bingo tickets. For bingo, keep using the paper books you already buy, and the host checks those wins against the board.

A simple subscription priced per player, per month, based on your venue's max players per session. Pay monthly at $3 a player, or yearly for $2.85 a player. New venues get a free first month, then billing recurs at your rate. Cancel any time before your first payment and you are never charged. If a night runs over your max, each extra player that night is $2, and your host has to tap OK on the screen before anything is added, so a busy night can never bill you by surprise.

Nothing happens without your host. Set your max to your usual room, and the moment a night runs over it your host sees what it costs and taps OK before the game starts, so you are never billed for a night nobody agreed to. Extra players are $2 each for that night. Go over three nights running and that is your crowd, not a big night: the third one is $1 a head and we lift your max to the number you hit all three times, from your next bill. It works out cheaper than paying per head every week. You can drop back any time from your account, and we always email before your bill changes.

Any time, from your account. Adding players applies straight away so you are covered that night, and the extra is on your next bill. Dropping down takes effect at your next renewal, so you keep what you have paid for until then. On an annual plan, added players are charged pro rata to your renewal date, and if you drop your max the unused value is not lost: it is held as a credit against your next renewal.

A screen, an internet connection, and a way to get the display onto that screen: a smart TV with a browser, a streaming stick, or an HDMI cable from a laptop or tablet all work. Players bring their own phones. For a rock-solid night we'd point you toward a stick or a cable over wireless casting, since that doesn't lean on venue wifi.

No lock-in. It's a rolling subscription you can cancel anytime. Your rate stays the same for as long as you're with us, and if you cancel before your first payment, you're never charged.

We get your first night running with you, and after that we are on the end of an email or the phone whenever something comes up. The whole thing is built so your bar staff can run it without a tech in the room.

Yep, you set the prizes, exactly like you do now. Bar tabs, meat trays, members jackpots, vouchers, whatever suits your venue. VenuePlay runs the game and calls the winners; the prizes are yours to decide.

Players join with just a name, no account, no login, nothing they have to hand over. Anything captured is opt-in and handled under Australian privacy rules.

No, and that's by design. A venue's player data belongs to that venue. If you run games at a venue you don't own, VenuePlay only ever collects a player's first and last name for the game itself: it can't switch on email, mobile, postcode or marketing opt-in, so there's no marketing list to take. Nothing is held on the side or handed over later. Each venue's opt-in players stay with that venue.

They do, and it is worth knowing before you plan a night. Trivia is a game of skill, so it sits outside gaming rules everywhere in Australia and any venue can run it. Bingo, musical bingo, raffles and members draws are gaming, and every state treats them a little differently, mostly around who can charge for entry and who keeps the proceeds. Broadly: clubs and not-for-profits have the most room to run a paid game, and pubs are usually limited to free entry. We will tell you what applies to your venue when you set up, and point you at your own state's regulator. You conduct the game and provide the prizes; we supply the software.

In most of the country, yes, and it is the whole point of the product. Three places still expect a printed ticket in the player's hand: South Australia, where the rules recognise only physical bingo sheets bought from a licensed supplier; the ACT, where the housie rules do not allow players to have electronic devices in the playing area; and Tasmania, where the bingo rules are written around a printed card that the supervisor collects to verify a win. In those three, VenuePlay still runs your night: the calling, the board on the big screen, the pattern and the prizes all work exactly the same, and the called numbers stay up so a shout can be checked against the screen. Your players mark off paper tickets the way they always have. What you lose is the phone side: no digital tickets, and no automatic check of a winning ticket, so a claim is verified by eye against the board as it always was.

For trivia, no, anywhere. For the games that draw a number, it depends on your state. Queensland asks for the random number generator to be approved by OLGR before it draws bingo, musical bingo, members draws or raffles, and we are working through that submission. Most other states have no approval step at all and simply require the draw to be fair and random, which ours is: it uses the same cryptographic method banks and browsers use, and we have the statistical test results to show it. If your state needs anything from us, we will tell you rather than leave you to find out.
